The short version
We collect very little, and we do not make money from your data. The summary below is not the whole policy, but nothing in the rest of it contradicts these five points.
1. Who we are and what this covers
Outer Limits AI LLC ("Outer Limits AI", "we", "us" or "our") operates One Degree Movies, a web-based movie trivia game at onedegreemovies.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Service, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have.
It applies to the Service only. It does not apply to any third-party website or service that we link to, or to any other product operated by us or by anyone else.
2. Playing without an account
Signing in is optional. If you play without signing in, we do not collect your name or email address, and your results are not associated with any account. Results from games played without an account are kept only in your own browser and do not appear on the leaderboard.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide through Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign in, sign-in is handled by Google. We receive from Google:
We never receive, see or store your Google password. We do not ask for your date of birth, gender, postal address, telephone number or payment details, and the Service provides no field in which to supply them.
A display name is shown beside your scores. If you do not choose one, we generate it from the name on your Google account or from the portion of your email address before the "@" symbol.

While you are signed in, we record the results of games you play, which includes:
3.3 Technical information collected automatically
Our hosting and database providers keep standard server logs. These typically record an IP address, browser and device type, the pages or endpoints requested, and the date and time of the request. We use these logs to operate, troubleshoot and secure the Service.
3.4 Storage on your device
We store a small amount of data in your browser: a sign-in session if you are signed in, and simple preferences such as whether you have already seen the how-to-play card. When you save a score without signing in, an essential cookie identifies your guest scores for up to 30 days and prevents other visitors from submitting scores under your identity. These essential features are separate from optional analytics. We also store your analytics preference. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to distinguish visits; we configure these cookies with a one-year lifetime, which may be refreshed when you visit. You can withdraw permission using Analytics settings.
3.5 What we do not collect
For the avoidance of doubt, and unlike many games, the Service uses:
3.6 Optional Google Analytics
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and page use. Google receives browser and device information, approximate location derived from your IP address, cookie identifiers and page activity. Google states that Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. We do not send your name, email address, account identifier, game results or authentication credentials as analytics parameters. Our page-view implementation uses known page paths without URL queries or fragments and excludes authentication callbacks.
Google Analytics is not loaded until you select Allow analytics. Declining does not affect gameplay or sign-in. Advertising signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our website configuration.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
We do not use your information to build advertising or marketing profiles, and we do not send marketing email. If we ever offer a newsletter or similar mailing, it will be strictly opt-in and you will be able to unsubscribe at any time.
5. How we share information
5.1 We do not sell your information
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have never done so.
5.2 Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the Service. They process information for the functions described below:

5.3 Information that is public
Your display name and your score appear on public leaderboards within the Service, and can be seen by anyone using it. Your email address is never displayed publicly. If you would prefer not to appear on a leaderboard, play without signing in, or ask us to delete your account.
5.4 Legal and safety
We may disclose information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, regulation, subpoena or other legal process, or is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Outer Limits AI LLC, our users, or the public.
5.5 Business transfers
If Outer Limits AI LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of assets, information covered by this Privacy Policy may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honour the commitments made in this Privacy Policy, or we will give you notice and an opportunity to delete your information before it becomes subject to a different policy.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account records and game results for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your account record and the personal information associated with it within 30 days, except where we are required to retain something by law. We may retain game results in a form that is not linked to you.
Server logs follow the retention schedules configured with our providers. Google Analytics event-level data follows the retention setting for our Analytics property; aggregated reports may be retained longer.
7. Your choices and your rights
You can allow or decline optional analytics through the Analytics settings button. Withdrawing permission stops analytics on this browser and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies for this site. Your choice is stored per browser and host; clearing browser storage may reset it.
Wherever you live, you may ask us to:
Email support@onedegreemovies.com and we will respond within 45 days. We will never discriminate against you, or degrade the Service you receive, because you exercised any of these rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, which we will normally do by confirming control of the email address on the account.
8. California residents
In the preceding twelve months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address, Google account identifier and IP address) and internet or other electronic network activity (game results and requests made to the Service). We have not collected any other category of personal information listed in the California Consumer Privacy Act.
We collect this information from you directly, from Google if you choose to sign in, and automatically from your device. We use it for the purposes described in section 4, and we disclose it for business purposes only to the service providers listed in section 5.2.
We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months and we do not do so. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
California Civil Code Section 1798.83, the "Shine the Light" law, permits California residents to request a list of third parties to whom we disclosed personal information for their direct marketing purposes. We make no such disclosures, so there is nothing to report; you may confirm this by writing to us at the address in section 12.
9. Other United States privacy rights
Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws, including Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Montana and Utah, have rights to confirm whether we process their personal information, to access, correct and delete it, to obtain a copy of it, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
We do not engage in targeted advertising, we do not sell personal information, and we do not carry out profiling of that kind. To exercise any other right, use the contact details in section 12. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will inform you of the outcome within 60 days.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, email support@onedegreemovies.com and we will delete it promptly.
11. Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including encrypted connections and delegating password handling to Google rather than storing passwords ourselves. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International users, changes, and how to contact us
The Service is operated from the United States and information we collect is processed and stored there. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will post the revised version at the Service with a new effective date. If the changes are material we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, for example by a notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
